  • Akismet - prevents spam in your comments; this is important.You can get your own API key at http://en.wordpress.com/signup/; just click the “Just a username, please” option at the bottom of that page. Your API key will then arrive by email; please keep this to send to me.
  • Google XML Sitemap – everytime you update content, your site is re-indexed using this plugin, and Google is notified
  • All in One SEO Pack – “SEO” means “Search Engine Optimization”; this sections helps you to tell the search engines more about your page, so that it is indexed faster by the search engines, thus making it appear in searches a lot more effectively.
  • Ping Optimizer – pings all sites in your ping list, but only when new content is PUBLISHED, not every time it’s edited & saved.
  • Database backup – schedules backups of the content of your website
  • Onlywire/ ShareThis/ Tweet This – these badges on all pages & posts encourage your visitors to “tweet” or share your page or post. I recommend all three, even though there is a bit of overlap between Onlywire and ShareThis
  • Top Commentator - show the top commentators on your website. They are rewarded with backlinks to their websites, so it can be used to encourage participation on your blog.
  • Clickbank HopAd – Display context-sensitive advertisements Clickbank products, with your affiliate link already embedded. You simply need a Clickbank account
